This course, produced by The Environment Agency in partnership with Ecosystems Knowledge Network, is suitable for those with an interest in what green finance is all about, particularly those with a role in project delivery who want to learn more about the opportunities green finance can create.

We face an enormous challenge in reversing the decline in biodiversity and adapting to climate change. It’s important that we develop an understanding about the role of the financial system in the current condition of the natural environment, and the positive role it can play in meeting our future objectives.

Through this course, we want to help you develop the basic financial knowledge and introductory level understanding of green finance you need to enable you to have confident conversations with colleagues and customers about that positive future, to recognise the green finance opportunities that will make it a reality, and to feel confident about your understanding of more in-depth green finance materials available through others sources.

A Glossary of Terms is mentioned however we aren’t able to share this externally.

By the end of these 5 introductory modules you’ll:

    • have a basic understanding of finance and green finance, including: limitations and opportunities; markets; natural capital accounting; and investment readiness.
    • be able to recognise potential green finance opportunities for the projects you’re leading or working with.
    • feel confident to hold a discussion about green finance with stakeholders.
    • know where to go for further information or to learn more about green finance.
